MONIER ROAD
PITMAN TOZER ARCHITECTS
Located within one of the 2012 Olympic Fringe areas opposite Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Fish Island Village is a joint venture development between Peabody, one of London’s oldest and largest housing associations, and Hill, an award-winning top 15 UK housebuilder. The new development will create a dynamic canal side neighbourhood with a public square for local activities and spill-out space for the ground floor bars and restaurants.
All buildings within the masterplan share a common DNA in trying to retain the robust industrial warehouse character of the area, whilst integrating a mixture of uses throughout. Monier Road was the first completed phase of the wider masterplan, delivering 71 homes with 470sqm of affordable ground floor workspace now being used by independed fashion start ups.
The tenure blind homes within Monier Road provide appartments and maisonettes offered through shared ownership, affordable rent and private sale. The mix of one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom units all benefit from carefully considered layouts bright and airy spaces, and generous communal areas.
