Hallsville Quarter Phase 3

Hawkins\Brown

Hallsville Quarter is one of the largest regeneration projects in London. A joint venture between London Borough of Newham and Linkcity, the site forms part of the Canning Town and Custom House regeneration masterplan.

The site is located opposite Canning Town station, with access to the Elizabeth Line from nearby Custom House station, and situated near some of East London’s key leisure, retail, commercial and travel destinations, including Canary Wharf, The O2, Stratford, The City and London City Airport. Phase 3 completes the heart of the town centre by adding 140,000sqft of mixed-use space and 620 new homes to the area. Half of the scheme is delivered for Grainger as BTR housing. The other half is for One Housing Group, providing 342 homes across shared ownership, shared equity, affordable rent, older persons’ extra care, and social rent tenures within two of the four courtyard blocks with mixed town centre uses within the podiums. Retail space addressing the street is accommodated within a base with housing arranged around landscaped courtyards above. These courtyards are a key tenet of the scheme and create a green sanctuary for residents away from the hustle and bustle of the high street. The scheme aims to extend Canning Town’s Barking Road High Street by creating a new chain of public spaces running North-South through the site: Town Place and Park Square provide new civic and green spaces for Canning Town, supported by a coherent retail strategy which aims to promote a bustling daytime and nighttime economy.
